The image of the couple was taken at Kew Gardens. I kept looking at it, knowing that it was good, but needed a context to take it to another level for the viewer. One day I saw a broken window at a sugar cane processing plant that was being torn down in Hawaii and knew that it would make a fine frame. It adds a sense of the decaying past being a voyeur on the blossoming of love. That took me to the idea of sepia, which would tone down the harshness of the observer and give a “forever” feel. And that foreverness meant that I need the word always in the title.
